I wanted to introduce myself to everyone, my name is Shelley MacEachern and I am overseeing LUSH’s going greener strategy. I am responsible for reviewing LUSH’s practices throughout its operations to identify how we might improve to reduce our carbon footprint and be better stewards for planet earth. Love all of the thought involved in some of your posts and look forward to talking with you.

I apologize if I am repeating stuff that has already been posted but since we are starting a new campaign "Many Happy Returns" involving bringing back your CLEAN black pots, I thought I would ask people's creative suggestions about how to reuse your black pots?

Thanks

If I knew how big the pots were- are we talking Mask of Magnaminty size?

I would keep cotton pads in them for eyemakup remover (you could even douse the pads in the remover and put the lid on the jar for travelling- ready-to-use!)

I would put ponytail holders in them.

Really, I might even use them for non-microwavable food storage- they're a good snack-size container for dry cereal, even storing ranch dressing or hummus for dips. And then people would freak, thinking you were eating your LUSH products. :--: I am always looking for smaller-than-tupperware sized containers to help carry my lunch stuff.

I use them to store crafts.. like beads and sewing stuff. I really like the screw on lids because they're more secure. I even peal off the stickers, which is easy, and they look pretty nice :-)))

I'm presently using the small size to hold a chunk of Coalface near the sink, a medium one to hold my lipbalms and a large one to hold various personal care tools like nail files, tweezers, etc. I've also used the pots in past to hold makeup remover soaked cotton pads like the above poster suggested.

I also use my empties to store things in and I've used 1 to plant some aduki from my Wiccy to grow. I poked some holes in the bottom for drainage and use the lid to catch any excess water.

I use the 250ml ones to hold makeup brushes and other grooming products between 4-7 inches long. If you take the labels off, it even looks kind of classy.

I use the moisturizer ones to take decants of products onto the plane with me. I leave the labels on so that it's clear to the TSA that they're under 3.3oz.

I also use some of the moisturizer ones to hold the puck-like products: shampoo, Sweet Japanese Girl, Glam Rock. I find them easier to open in the shower than the shampoo tins. Since the products I'm storing inside are solid, I like to take the labels off and replace them with the appropriate product names/pictures from old copies of Lush Times.

You could also use them as tiny planters. Remember how we used to grow beans in Dixie cups in elementary school?

As for the rest, I've been saving them for a promo where we bring n empties and get something for free.

I have a spearmint plant growing in one of my old Dream Cream containers.

I haven't had much use for the other ones I have, so I just recycle. But I wanted to use some of the small pots for plants as well.

I really like the planter idea! I never thought of that. I have been using one of my containers as a change holder in my car cup holder for tolls.

I've been using them as pencil holders, toothbrush holders, and traveling containers. But I have enough of them now that I don't need that I should probably just recycle them.

Welcome to the forum, Shelley! Here's an organic pineapple to welcome you: %@

As for my black pots, I have been saving them for the in-store promo we all hope is coming! However, if I was not, I would use one as a change cup in my car, and would probably use the rest to store things for crafting.

They make great "starter" pots for orchids. Whenever I divide my orchid to give part to a friend, I drill a hole in the bottom of one of the larger pots and transplant the the "baby orchid" into its new home. The lid goes underneath (I tell people, that if you see water in the lid, you're watering it too much)

One is holding my makeup brushes, and one is holding my knitting needles. Just fill with decorative stones, and voila!

I'm currently using a Mask of Magnaminty pot to hold my Silky Underwear powder. I just unscrew the lid and dip one of my powder brushes inside.

I'm using my Sympathy for the Skin pot to hold my powder brushes.

I hadn't even thought of using the pots to start plants in. doh! Genius!

I use the big pots to store stray pieces of bubble bars and soaps, stash jewellery, and keep makeup pads/tools. The small ones I use to make my dream cream/charity pot travel sized. The rest of them get recycled.
